Lightning Dragon

The lightning dragon ( Electrodraco serratus) is one of the biggest species of dragon in terms of lenght. This massive beast can get 30 metres long with an even bigger wingspan. Electrodraco is a strict airborne secies, it rarely gets on the ground , mostly to sleep in deep caves. This dragon is said to follow big thunderstorms and its theses thunderstorms that make this dragon so special. Unlike most other dragons, Electrodraco fires  lightning bolts rather than fire out of his mouth. To allow this, this species features several special features: First of all this dragon is often seen eating rocks that contain iron and other magnetic and metallic minerals. I´During growth and as the dragon eats more and more metallic minerals, mulitple spines  develop all over its body, old electrodracos are almost covered in a "coat" of metallic spines. The horn on its snout also contains magnetic and metallic material ans the horn grows the older the dragon gets. Also the tail carries a big set of pincer like appendages where metal is enriched. All this functions basically as a giant lightning absorber.  In the dragons inside are actually metallic materials as well. if the dragon gets struck by lightning, it is able to store the energy and realease it when needed. This is the reason why it follows thunderstorms, to collect energy. The dragon mainly lives over oceans but its resting spots are in coastal areas. As it only active during thunderstorms , it is rarely seen. During the age of sail, ssailors sometimes  reported sightings of this beast. They described its hunting method as to coming down from the clouds and emitting powerful lighting bolts onto the water, electrocuting surface dwelling fishes and other animals near the surface. Even  whales arent safe from it. This dragon usually avoid humans and it isnt known how many of these dragons exist although it is generally thought tha it is a rare species.  It has also been reported that the dragon can be noticed near one if your hairs will suddenly stand up, owing to the electrostatic waves this dragon almost constantly emits. For sailors in older days, this dragon could be very dangerous as it magnetic field often messed up their compasses.
