Tanycolagreus is the second coelurid and the bigger one of the 2 members. While coelurus reached only 2 and a half meters in lenght, Tanycolagreus is much bigger, reching 4 metres in lenght. Tanycolagreus means long limbed hunter as its legs were very long and lean which identifys it as a fast running animal . Its snout was rather blunt and short than long stretched like in many other small theropods which often have elongated and lean skulls and snouts.
Studies show that coelurids are probably members of the tyrannosauroid family.
