This one I built last year and I painted it I think at the beginning of 2012
Why I didnt upload it before?-I really dont know.
Backround: Not much is known about the sturmgeschütz 4. It was a based on the stug III tank destroyer which was very succesful. It was built by krupp. The stug 3 was based on the panzer III chassis, but krupp only produced panzer IVs. So after some modifications, the structure of the stug II was simply builton the panzer iv chassis. These new stugs were called sturmgeschütz IV. They were better suited for tank killing althoguh they couldalso be used as infantry support vehicle. They had a 7,5cm Stuk L/48 high velocity main cannon and an Mg34 or 42 as second armament. Top speed was 40 km/h. About 1100 were produced. Today 2 remain, and one is even in running condition, it is to 98% restored of original parts.
The model kit. It is a Tamyia model in 1:35
Detail: Very nice, everything is well detailed, from the figure to the stug itself
Fitting: Absolutely no problems, thats with all tamyia kits, the fitting is perfect, noone beats tamyia when it comesto fitting
Functions: Again a homerun: we have movable tracks(for this alone the kit should get 5stars) and the cannon can be moved.
Decals: As for a tank, few decals but they are wll done,
Extrapoints, although one of the fewer known german tanks, the stug 4 is one of my favourite assault guns. The kit is awesome and i like every part of it
Fazit: A superb model kit. It has everything what a 5 star model needs, very good detail, awesome functions, a wonderful fitting, everything is perfect. A beginner could built this because it is just so easy to assemble because of its excellent fitting. I can absolutely recommend it.
Note: The manua doesnt suggest a colour scheme like my one, but tere were stug 4s in that colour scheme. The surviving stug 4 in runnign condition has very much the same colour scheme. The clolours were applied with a brush and revell aqua colours.
