Description

BAckround: Designed as an interceptor, the P 47 Tunerbolt was based on the P 43 . The Thunderbolt had a masssive engine, the Pratt and whitney R 2800 with 2000 horsepowers. These could acceleratre the P 47 to a topspeed of 698 km/h. The fuselage was built around the masssive engine, giving the thunderbolt or "Jug" as it was often called, a huge fuselage and therefore an impressive appearence. In fact, te Thunderbolt is the biggest single seat fighter plane ever to have taken to the sky in greater numbers. It was also the most produced american fighter plane. First versions of the thunderbolt ad a normal canopy, later versions like the here shown D version whic was also the most produced version ad a bubble canopy for better vision. Thunderbolts were mainly used over europe, some saw service in the pacific. During its career, the Jug proved to be an excellent gun platform. Its massive fuselage was very strong and it could withstand even heavy hits by flakguns. The P 47 got a legendary reputation for rugetness. They could loose a cylinder and still come back. The P 47 had an excellent diving rate but at first its climbing rate not very good. Later models featured a wider paddel propeller for a better rate of climb. The Thunderbolt had 8 Browning machine guns, able to easily destroy an enemy aircraft. The Thunderbolt was used first as an escort fighter, but it ate fuel and was replaced in that position by the P 51. But its rugetness made it ideal for a fighter bomber and this was its primary use. As a fighter bomber the Thunderbolt showed its full potential. Te big aircraft could dive with tremendous speed and still it was able to defend itself, although it wasnt as manouvrable as the Focke wulf 190 and the me 109. Thunderbolts were used till te war ended and even after they saw wide use. It is one of the most iconic planes ever and today many still fly.The P 47 N was a special long range fighter version of the P 47. The plane shown here was in service in japan.

The model kit: This one is a rerelease of a 1997s kit from revell(atleast thats what the mold says.). I dunno known if this is orginally by revell because it doesnt "work" like you normally build a revell kit. For example the cockpit is placed into position after the fuselage is joined together and the landing gear covers are already fused onto the inside of the wings. However it is in 1/48 and the price is 17,99€
Detail: The deail is fantastic, the engine looks just right, like in revells ventura of the same scale. Cockpit deail is also grea as is the landing gear.
*****
Fitiing: The fitting is good but no perfect, the wing joining is ok bu there are some gaps, whci hI filled with glue and bending the wings up 1 o 2 degrees (I dont have filler). The rest fits mostly fine.
****
Funcions: Basic, sadly the canopy cant slid backward like in its revell 1/72 counterpart. The prop is spinnable tough and the big prop is very nice to watch- see an en gine run of my model kit with original r 2800 sound on my youtube channel [link] .
****
Decals: The decals are awesome . They are very nicely done, the chick on the cowling is awesome ;) and the res is also nicely done.
*****
Extrapoints: The plane looks fantastic, its worth its price. I love how it turned out and its one of my stars in my collection due to its bright colours and awesome decals.
*****
Fazit: The kit is fine. It truely is a fantastic piece and worh its rerelease, not liek some other shit revell rereleased from older times. This one is worth its price and very nicely executed . I could absolutely recommend it.
*****

Painting: Almost completely done with airbrush. A mixture of farn green and yellow was used for the inside ,canopy and landing gear inside. Aluminium was used for the wings, fuselage etc.
blue was used for the cowling and the rudder tips. Silk black was used for the prop and yellow for the spinner. Silk black was also used for the tires.

I'm getting the Trumpeter 1/32 P-47N tomorrow (weather permitting)

Never been my favourite plane, but really looking forward to it.
