Nocturnovolans

Nocturnovolans microchiropterus, meaning nocturnal flyer, is a small species of dragon. Nocturnovolans is as big as a big bat and he has a short head with needle like teeth, ideal for grabbing insects which are his main food supply. This small dragon lives in Chile and in Africa. Nocturnovolans is nocturnal , as his name says and lives in big caves during the day. In these caves, thousands of Nocturnovolans can be found. They all fly out when night is falling, hunting for insects. However if food in form of insects isnt available, nocturnovolans is able to kill bigger prey by using two very long teeth that are connected to a venom gland. This venom is dangerous for smaller mammals and doesnt have much effect on humans if it has been bitten by one nocturnovolans. However , Nocturnovolans sometimes hunt in flocks if food is rare and several bites of nocturnovolans are dangerous for humans. The venom is neurotoxic . Nocturnovolans has very long lean wings, meaning t is a very fast and agile flyer. An interesting fact is, that nocturnovolans can produce light: It is bioluminescent , meaning it is ble to emit its own light. If it does this, two glowing eye like spots appear on each wing. This is used when Nocturnovolans is threatened by a predator and during mating. His eyes can detect this bioluminescence, but despite this his eye sight isnt very good. He depends on his ultrasonic screams, which he produces to localize prey and other things that are in his way. His sense of smell is also very good and his ultrasocic screams are higher that that of bats. They cant be heard by human ears. These silent predators also have a membrane between their legs and the tail. This membrane is used for catching insects during flight, in the same way as bats do.
