Dorudon is a prehistoric primitive whale and was bred under the SB program. It is closely related to another whale in Jurassic park: basilosaurus, although it is only a third of its size. Dorudon has been described by keepers as kind of a large toothy dolphin. Dorudon like clean slat water and our park features them in a huge tank, similar to the tank that currently houses a mosasaur on Isla Nublars Jurassic World. Dorudon are very fast and agile swimmers , on par with modern dolphins. Their strong and streamlined bodies allows them to jump out of the water wuite high. And they do this quite often, apparently they also do it for fun. They are also quite intelligent animals, they are able to learn and in fact, keppers have been able to train these animals to perform a few tricks. The most common one is to let them play with a big red ball (although due to their dentition, the ball has to be replaced quite often). These trick are a very big attraction in our park and they are pulled of 3 times a day. The dorudon seem to like to perform these tricks, they are rewarded with fish for performing . Currently 3 Dorudons inhabit the park, 1 male and 2 females. The males are bigger than the females. Unlike modern whales and dolphins they cant sing and they are generally very quiet animals. They are also known to partially breach themself on land like modern killerwhales and when performing that , the trainers are actually able to touch and interact with them. However you have to have the balls for going face to face with a dolphhin that has horrific dentition and you also have to be experienced and trained dorudons for some time. Only experienced keepers train them and only do so if they know the animals since their "birth". Dorudon seem very kind natured animals and are generally non aggressive to humans, although our dorudons are weary of strangers and dont come close to them. Dorudons have huge powerful teeth and jaws and despite beeing described as " friendly", they are still potentially dangerous, so going near them should only be done by experineced trainers.
